Birchbox October 2013

Rating: Love it!!!!
Cost: $10/month

I received my October Birchbox yesterday. This month's theme was Beauty Buzz and includes products people obsess over. I couldn't wait to see what was in my box!

Here's what I received:

The first item was Bain de Terre Macadamia Oil Nourishing Conditioner. I was nervous to try this and tried to go onto the Birchbox website to read reviews, but there wasn't any when I checked (now I see there are 2). I have very fine hair, so I don't use a lot of conditioners because they tend to weight my hair down and make it look very limp. I liked the scent of this conditioner. It smelled a little perfumey, but was very light and nice. It worked well and didn't weigh my hair down. My hair was nice and soft after one use.

The next item was Evologie Stay Clear Cream. I was anxious to try this cream because we are getting family pictures done in a couple days and who wouldn't want a flawless complexion for that. I put it on after washing my face at night and it was smooth and went on nicely. I really didn't like how it felt like I had a cream on my face. I like when they sink in and you feel nothing. I didn't notice any miracle difference after one application. I may just use this as a spot treatment and not an all over face cream and give it a few more tries to see what I think.

The product I most wanted to try from my box this month was Shea Terra Organics Rose Hips Black Soap Deep Pore Facial Cleanser. My face is generally oily, so finding a good cleanser is very important. I wasn't sure about the color or texture of this product. It felt like I was putting chocolate syrup on my face. I let it sit for 5 minutes as the directions said and washed it off. My face immediately felt squeaky clean and tighter. It was also recognizably smoother and softer after only one application. The sample size is pretty generous so I can't wait to try this more and see the results after a few uses. I think I may have to purchase this cleanser!

Another product I received was featured in the October Birchbox spoiler video, so I was excited to try it! It's the Balm Cosmetics Stainiac in Beauty Queen. This went on very smooth and was sheer, so you could build the color, but didn't have too much color if you didn't want it. I put it on so that it wasn't too noticeable, but it gave me a pretty glow. I also did a test when I put it on my lips. I put it on lightly and it provided my lips with a just bitten rosy color. I immediately put a different gloss over it to see if the color would come off (not because my lips needed something more, just to see how the color would stay). The color did not come off at ALL!!! Amazing!!! I'm in love!

The final product included in my October box was the Birchbox find (a mass-market discovery they think is awesome that's included in addition to the usual samples). It was Chap Stick Hydration Lock in Vanilla. This is super soft on your lips. I'm a huge fan of Chap Stick, so I was very happy to get this as an extra item.

Birchbox is one of my favorite subscriptions because I love being able to sample the products and find what really works for me before purchasing. I've been able to clean out my beauty products and only keep what I love!!!

What did you get in your Birchbox this month???
