Barkbox December 2014

Rating: Love It!!!!
Cost: $29/month

We received our Barkbox December 2014. It was a smaller box size, but I couldn't wait to see what was inside. The holiday tissue paper made me excited! It's so cute!!!

Here's a first peek into the box this month.

As usual Barkbox included an information card detailing everything included in the box. It also tells about the Happy Pawlidays theme this month.

This box is co cute that I'm saving every item for our puppy to open on Christmas day! Our 2 year old daughter was just as excited about his box as I'm sure the pup will be on Christmas!

The first item that caught my eye in the box was a Safemade Holiday tartan bandana (12" x 12"). This is an adorable holiday print and I can't wait to put it on him Christmas morning.

We also received a Simply Fido Penguin with crinkle paper body. Our pup loves these toys with the flat crinkly bodies, so I know he'll love this! It's adorable. I'm loving all the great, quality toys we're getting from Barkbox.

Another toy that was included in the December box was a Quaker Elf. This toy is so adorable, too! I think this was my daughter's favorite toy in the box. She kept asking the puppy where his elf was, forgetting that we were saving it for him to open on Christmas, haha.

We received a Butcher's Block Bone 6" Trachea. It's a 100% beef treat from Omaha, Nebraska. Our puppy is sometimes picky about his bones, so I'm not sure what he'll think of this one. For the most part, he likes most of the treats in his Barkbox, so hopefully he likes this too.

The final item included in our December Barkbox was the Polka Dog Sfizis: Lucky Dog Recipe treats. These are all natural treats that are high in protein, low in fat, and made with USA raised ducks. They also come in a travel container for on the go, which will be perfect for Christmas day, because we'll be travelling.

I am very pleased with the quality of treats and toys included in Barkbox. I do think there will be a point where we no longer need so many toys and we have to stop subscribing, but for now I'm loving this subscription, and so is our pup. We can't wait to see what will be included for January, because the last three month have been holiday themed.

Citrus Lane December 2014

Rating: Like It!!!
Cost: $29/month

I received my daughter's 30 month Citrus Lane December 2014 box this week. I actually cancelled, but re-subscribed when they had the free Skip Hop lunchie and straw cup promotion. I'm not sure this box was enough to make me continue my subscription.

Usually Citrus Lane includes an information card detailing what is in the box, but this month I didn't have one.

The first item we received was the Green Toys Pizza Stacker. This goes along with my daughters gifts for Christmas, so I know she'll love it. She loves pretending to make and serve food to us, so this is perfect for her!

She also received the Melissa & Doug Alphabet Nesting and Stacking Blocks. I think she will like these, but we haven't taken them out of the packaging yet. They stand 3 ft tall, so I think she'll love that. And of course knocking them over will be her favorite thing to do!

The Little Pea Book is the cutest story. I really like the illustrations too. My daughter loves books, so I'm always happy to add to our collection.

Sometimes Citrus Lane will include a mommy item. I believe the Juice Beauty Green Apple Age Defy Moisturizer is the mommy item this month. And I need some new moisturizer and love Juice Beauty, so this was a nice addition to the box!

As I said earlier, I re subscribed when Citrus Lane had the promotion for a free Skip Hop lunchie and straw cup. This is the variation we received. I know my daughter will love it! She uses her Skip Hop owl straw cup all the time. And I love the special edition holiday characters. I would have been happy to receive any of them.

I'm happy with what is included in this month's Citrus Lane box, but the value does not seem to be there, like it was in the past. I'd like more variety in the boxes. I'll be cancelling this subscription. I enjoy it, but not enough to keep it.

Birchbox December 2014

Rating: Love It!!!!
Cost: $10/month

I received my Birchbox December 2014 box this week. I had peeked at what I'd be getting, so it wasn't a surprise. I wasn't as excited for this box as I was for the last couple. I'll probably change my profile to try to get some different items next month. I ordered an add to box item this month, so I was very excited to see it in person.

I loved the box this month. The blue color was much more vibrant in person and looked like a deep turquoise.

This month's theme was Decked Out. They designed this Birchbox to help start the celebrations a little early. It's filled with festive beauty samples.

As always, Birchbox included an information card explaining everything in the box. They also gave all subscribers $10 to use at Gap, by signing up with your e-mail. That was a great bonus to the box this month! I will definitely be using mine.

The item I chose to add to my box this month was Vasanti Cosmetics Kajal Extreme Intense Eye Pencil in Rose Gold. Before getting Birchbox, I never used eye liner. I hated it, but now that I've tried a few, I love it. And the rose gold is unique and perfect for the holidays. It gives your eyes a nice bit of shimmer!

I also received Acure Organics Lip Lush in Date Worthy. I really like this lip product. It's a natural color and not sticky at all. It feels hydrating and nice. I was kind of bummed to be getting a lip gloss, because I feel like I have so many, but I will definitely use this one. I love the color and texture!

I may be the only person that is completely over BB creams, but I am. I guess I just don't understand what all the hype is about, because I end up just using them as concealer anyways. I can't stand using a BB cream all over my face, because it feels too make-up ish. So when I received Dr Jart+ Black Label Detox BB Beauty Balm, I wasn't too excited. It works well and blends with my skin, but nothing stands out over other BB creams I've tried.

The item I was most excited to try in my box this month was Rusk Texture Spray. I have very fine, thin hair and nothing gives me body or texture at all. Nothing. So I sprayed this in my dry hair as the directions say and it actually gave me volume, and you could play around with it to style your hair how you wanted. My hair is very straight, so it didn't work for a straight style, it just made my hair poufy in a strange way. But this will work great when I curl my hair, which reminds me that I should have asked for a curling wand when people were asking for gift ideas for me. I need one desperately. Anyone have any thoughts on a good one to purchase. My hair is bob length and very straight, fine, and thin, so I need something that will work for me.

The final sample I received was SeaRx Anti-Wrinkle Facial Lift Treatment Serum. I always like to try new wrinkle creams, but know not to expect miracles after one application. I really liked the simple packaging of this product, actually I more than like it, I love it! This felt very thin and watery on my skin, which I didn't like. It seemed to sink in well, but you couldn't move it around on your skin. It didn't feel moisturizing, I guess is a better way to explain it. And no miracles, so although the packaging was perfect, I wasn't a fan.

Now for the most exciting item in the box!!! The item I added to my box this month was the Capwell + Co Mint Moonstone and Crystal Necklace. This came in a beautiful gift box with tissue paper. I took quite a few pictures, because I loved how it was packaged and it made me feel like I should be gifting it instead of keeping it for myself. But when I opened the box and saw the most beautiful, sparkly, perfect statement necklace, I knew I couldn't gift it. I love the mint stones and the beautiful center dark green stone! I took close up pictures to show the beauty. I wore this necklace to work the very next day and will continue to wear it. It's the perfect statement necklace to wear through the holidays and after! I think this is my favorite add to box item yet.

Birchbox has already released what the sample choices will be for the January box, but I'm not sure I'm crazy about any of them. I might not pick any and have a completely surprise box next month.

Popsugar Must Have December 2014

Rating: Love It!!!!
Cost: $39.95/month

I received my Popsugar Must Have December box on Sunday! I've never received packages on a Sunday before, so I was thrilled. I expected this box to arrive earlier in the week, so I was getting nervous it was lost in the mail. I was happy when it finally arrived. And I had already looked at spoilers, so I knew what would be in the box. I couldn't wait to see everything in person because I was excited about this month's box! The inspiration for the December box was cheers, party ready, indulgence, holiday treats, sparkle, and glamour.

As always, Popsugar included an information card explaining everything included in the box.

The first item included in the December box was SPUN by Subtle Luxury Speckled Metallic Scarf.  This is a very festive and party ready scarf! I'm not sure I needed another scarf, but I like it. It's grey with gold specks. This scarf has a retail value of $62 and I may end up gifting it to a friend!!! I think it might be a great way to wrap a bottle of wine for a friend for the holidays!

The next item included was Sparklepop Sydney Necklace. This is a 18K gold-plated necklace with a retail value of $42. It has a very long chain with a large stone. I thought it would be overwhelming on me when I saw it in person and was hoping it would be a dainty necklace. I put it on and doubled the chain and I love it so much! It's really sparkly and beautiful. I will definitely be wearing this all holiday season!!!

The Canvas Dauville Platinum Bowl was my favorite item included in the box. I love this and it will be perfect to hold my earrings on my dresser. I love the platinum interior and white exterior. This has a retail value of $29. It's smaller than I expected, but I love the size of it to organize my jewelry. Love this!!!

The next item was Smashbox Be Legendary Long-Wear Lip Lacquer in Bordeaux. This has a retail value of $24. This is a deep wine shade that is totally wearable and beautiful, even on my pale skin. It will be perfect for the holidays! I'm usually not too thrilled to receive lip glosses or lipstick in subscription boxes, because I have so many. But I'm so happy with this one, because I don't have anything close to this color. And I love it on me for something different!!!

I also received Knot & Bow Parcel Tags in the prettiest blue color. These don't scream holiday to me, so I may be saving them for wrapping throughout the year. They have a retail value of $4 for 10 tags. They're made from a heavy cardstock, so they'll hold up well. I can't wait to buy pretty wrapping paper to go with these!

The final item included was Williams-Sonoma Cupcake Mix in Vanilla Bean. This has a retail value of $14.95. I love cupcakes, so I was excited to see this included in the box! I'll have fun making these with my daughter!!!

I'm very happy with the Popsugar Must Have Box for December! I love everything!!! I ended up subscribing for another 6 months, with one of the great deals Popsugar offered, so I can't wait to see what's included next month. I also ordered the Neiman Marcus Special Edition Popsugar Box and the Holiday for Her and Holiday for Him Special Edition Popsugar boxes, but we're saving them all to open on Christmas day. We're having a Popsugar Christmas! And I haven't looked at spoilers for the Holiday for Her box, so I'll get a few surprises!!!
