Golden Tote June 2014

Rating: Love It!!!!
Cost: $49 or $149/tote (I'm reviewing the $49 tote)

I received my Golden Tote very early in the month, but wasn't able to get around to taking pictures. So, this is quite late, and I was already able to trade for an item I wanted instead of what I received. I went with the $49 tote this month, in an effort to save money. But then Golden Tote went ahead and released a Surprise Item Tote, which will be 4-5 surprise items for $99 plus shipping. I couldn't resist, so of course I ordered immediately! The surprise totes will not sell out and you are able to order it from the boutique at any time. If you haven't ordered one yet and want one. Click here to get one (or two, or three)!

For the June tote, I was able to choose one item and I selected the Road Trip Tee. This sold out quickly, so I was happy I ordered as soon as the sale opened. This shirt is great because it can be styled casually with jeans or shorts and it can also be worn with skirts. I love how it looks like a plain striped tee from the front, but the back has a lot of personality. I love the buttons!!! So cute!

Golden Tote announced that the surprise item for both $49 and $149 totes would be the Puella Slouchy Pants and I was really hoping I would receive the black ones. When I opened my tote I saw I received the patterned pants, and I really wanted to trade for black because I thought the black would be more versatile. I couldn't find a trade that wanted the patterned ones for the black ones, so I ended up buying the black ones from someone on the Facebook Golden Tote Trading Group. I love them! And I'm determined to make these pants appropriate to wear for work, because they are so comfortable!!!

I was also contacted by a lovely Golden Tote Trading Group member that had asked if I still had the patterned slouchy pants available. She had traded for them, but then had them stolen from her in the mail. I felt awful for her, and although I wasn't crazy about what she had to trade, I did it anyways. I received a Naked Zebra green sleeveless shirt from her (pictured with slouchy pants above). When I pulled it out of the package, I was in love! It was the softest, silkiest shirt and when I tried it on I knew it would go great with so many items in my wardrobe. I love Golden Tote! This is a shirt I never would have chosen for myself and yet it's perfect and I love it! It's reason enough for me to always take a chance and give everything a try!!!

As always I'm happy with my tote, even though there was only 2 items in this month's $49 tote. I was hoping for a little something extra, but I'm very happy with what I did get. I'm looking forward to receiving my surprise tote!!! And I'm trying not to order in July, but we'll see how that goes. So far I love the spoilers, so it will be difficult. I just feel like I'm missing out if I don't order every month. Don't you love Golden Tote?!?

Thursday Thoughts

I'm linking up with Jen from Ramblings of a Suburban Mom for Thursday Thoughts.

My daughter is two today!!! Where did the time go?!? This is such a fun age. And to celebrate today I'm wearing my Woo Kaftan dress from Golden Tote (I'm in love) and I bought my daughter the same dress in a miniature version (in the watermelon color) from the Woo website! It was a bit big on her, but will probably fit her better next summer!!! She had just woken up from a nap and did not want her picture taken.

Popbasic has some exciting things going on, so I thought I'd tell you about them! The Jane Collection will be available next week on the 1st of July at 10am PST. Yay!!! Check it out here if you want to learn more.

The red Le Breton will be available for pre-order on the 8th of July at 10am PST. Also, if you pre-ordered the original Le Breton shirt, it is shipping out this week. I can't wait to get mine!

Also, if you'd like to save $15 (and haven't already signed up for Popbasic e-mails and used a referral link), you can click any Popbasic link in this post to receive $15 towards your purchase. The Paloma Collection (my favorite collection) is still available, so order now if you don't want to miss out! Check out my review for the collection here.

The other thing I'm so excited for, is for my Golden Tote Surprise Item Tote to ship. The surprises are always my favorite items and I can't wait to see what I get! The best thing is, the surprise tote won't sell out, so if you thought you missed it, you can still order one today. Also, I was planning on skipping a July tote, to save some money, but I have loved every spoiler so far. What are your thoughts on the July items?!? I know I won't be able to pass some of them up, including this top that I absolutely need!

What's on your mind today?!?

They have 4 options to choose from: One Time Subscription ($16.99) - great to purchase as a gift or just to try out; Monthly Subscription ($14.99) - receive a new nail design kit every month and you will be automatically billed each month; Lil Dolls Subscription - for the little girls in your life that love to get their nails polished (Coming Soon); Mystery Jewelry & Nail Box - includes unique, edgy jewelry and one nail design kit; you can choose from Fun Mystery Box ($19.99), Fancy Mystery Box $29.99), Fab Mystery Box ($39.99), or Glam Mystery Box ($49.99) (There are more details on the website of what each Mystery Box includes).

Flirty Fingerz graciously sent me this box to review. They will be launching the subscription July 4th, so I received the box early for review purposes.

I was sent the One Time Nail Design Subscription Kit ($16.99 +$6.95 shipping) which includes two nail designs and all the tools to create the looks, along with trendy nail polish wraps. I also received a sample of the jewelry that will be included in the Mystery Jewelry & Nail Box. The box it arrived in was bright pink with black/white washi tape. I couldn't wait to open up the box and see what was inside. Here's a first look. The paper on top explained about the subscription options. I love the black polka dot tissue paper!

And under the tissue paper I saw some goodies. I wanted to see what was in the striped bag underneath.

There were 2 striped bags underneath. And I couldn't wait to see what was in them. I was assuming these would be a sampling of the kits to create unique nail designs.

Inside each striped bag was a card detailing the nail design and how to create it. There was also another sealed bag inside the striped bag with the contents needed to create the nail design. The first bag I opened had a Liquid Sand technique in which you use flour to create a textured polish. I also received a sand colored nail polish by Maybelline Color Show in Canary Cool. I will post pictures of the finished look when I try this technique.

The second bag had a card to create the Designer Diva quilted design on your nails. This included a matte nail color by Nabi Nail Lacquer in Lavender Matte and floss pick to create the look. I love how both of these ideas used items you would have in your home. And both seemed simple to try at home. This was perfect for me!

The extras included in my package were Maybelline Fashion Prints Nail Stickers in Fierce N Fuchsia. These are always great to create a different look on your nails. I love how you just stick them on and there is no drying time. I always get complements when I wear these types of products.

I also received Essie No Chips Ahead Chip Free Top Coat. I love this brand of polish and was very excited to see this included in the box.

And the final item was the sample jewelry piece. It was a gold tone necklace that said "Cool". I'm not sure I can pull off this necklace, but I know just the person that will love it!

I thought this was a very fun box and I can't wait to try the techniques. I'll post pictures when I try them! I'm also happy I can recreate them whenever I want if I love them!!! I think this would make a great gift for a tween or anyone that loves to pamper themselves. If you love what was included and can't wait to see what other techniques they include, check out their website and subscribe beginning July 4th.

To celebrate the launch of Flirty Fingerz they are having a Twitter Party on July 3rd at 8:30PM. Tweet with the hashtag #fflaunchparty to enjoy the fun!

*This complimentary box was received in exchange for my honest review. As always the opinions are my own!

Citrus Lane June 2014

Rating: Love It!!!!
Cost: $29/month

My 24 month old daughter's Citrus Lane box arrived yesterday! That's right, it's her birthday month and the little darling will be 2 on the 26th! Where has the time gone?!? I always think this box is even more special to open during her birthday month and was hoping for some great surprises (Citrus Lane never disappoints).

My daughter loves to see this box waiting for her on the doorstep.

Here is the first look.

Citrus Lane always includes an information card with details about all the products in the box.

This month we got to choose one item and it was the Wet Bag from Bumkins. There was various patterns/designs to choose from, but I fell in love with the Minnie print. We already own a wet bag in a different print and use it all the time, so I was happy to get another one. And who can resist this print?!? This is great for summer weather, when you just never know when you'll have wet clothes because you needed to take a swim.

The next item we received was a Pouch Puzzle by Mudpuppy. We received a puzzle last month, so I was surprised to see one this month too. Last month it was a wooden puzzle, so this is different and at first I thought it might be a puzzle that could be used in water, but it isn't. I think a puzzle for the beach is a great idea, but that might just be me. So, anyways this is a cardboard puzzle (which we don't own, because my daughter is still in the wooden puzzle phase). This is bright and colorful and I think she'll enjoy trying to put it together.

The next item was what I was most excited to see in the box. It was a Zoo Straw Bottle from Skip Hop. I love everything from Skip Hop and we have the lunch bag in the same owl character, so I was very happy! I'm always excited about new sippy cups and my daughter loves the straw ones, so this is perfect!

The final item included was Mighty 4 Bars from Plum Organics. These are essential nutrition bars baked with whole grains, fruits, veggies, and yogurt. My daughter loved these! Plus they're healthy for her. She's at the age where she doesn't always want to eat what we're eating, so these come in handy to make sure she's getting the nutrition she needs.

Another great month with Citrus Lane! We will definitely use every item, as usual. I'm very happy and already looking forward to what we'll get next month!

Fair Ivy June 2014

Rating: Love It!!!!
Cost: Jewelry $25/month; Mystery $16/month; The Duet $35/month (June is Fair Ivy's final month before they take a hiatus)

Fair Ivy is one of my favorite subscription boxes and I'm sad they'll be taking a hiatus. June is the last month of surprises for awhile. I'm hoping we get some really good surprises for the final month (I'm sure we will).

The packages are delivered right from the vendors and come wrapped so pretty. These are always so fun to open and really do feel like gifts every time one arrives. You never really know when one will show up in your mailbox, so it's so much fun when they do!

Here is what it looked like when I took it out of the mailer envelope.

And when I unwrapped the white tissue paper, this is what I found. How pretty!!!!

Inside was a very pretty silver necklace by Song Yee Designs. This looks like a tiny pine cone and completely suits my style. It's even prettier in person. I'm so happy with this surprise!

Here's a closer view so you can see the detail. Love it!!!

I received another surprise from Fair Ivy (I subscribe to the Duet). I had no idea what to expect when I opened the package, but it felt like fabric of some sort. It was packaged so pretty and I couldn't wait to see what it was.

It was a beautiful scarf by TingLisa. She sells her hand-made items on etsy. This scarf is a beautiful floral print. I love the colors and that there are small and large flowers throughout the fabric. It is very large and could also be worn as a wrap, plus the fabric is very soft. I was so excited when I opened this surprise. I have been very pleased with everything I have received from Fair Ivy.

This picture does not do this scarf justice. I'm awful at trying to take selfies. They always end up looking so awkward, but in person the scarf is even more lovely!

Birchbox June 2014

Rating: Like It!!!
Cost $10/month

My Birchbox arrived for June. I always love to dig in and try the new products! I peeked in my account at what I would be getting this month, so I wasn't surprised when it arrived. I was excited to try a couple of items in my box this month.

The theme for June is Away We Go. It's the season for road tripping, destination hopping, and staycation-ing, so
Birchbox is bringing travel ready samples, on the go inspiration, and much more this month.

Here is the first look. I love how Birchbox changes the color of the tissue paper each month. It gives the box a different feel each month!

As usual Birchbox includes an information card detailing all the samples you receive.

Here is what was in my box this month.

The first item I received was Benefit They're Real! Mascara. I've tried this mascara before and I'm not in love with it. It's quite wet and does a nice job of making lashes look dark and long, but I prefer a dryer formula. I continue to use Maybelline Great Lash mascara and have been for years and years. I think it would take a miracle mascara to get me to switch from it.

The next sample I received was Davines Love Smoothing Shampoo. I was excited to try this shampoo and excited that I also received the conditioner and all in one milk samples too. The shampoo smells very clean, similar to children's bubbles. I loved the scent! It made my hair very soft.

I also received Davines Love Smoothing Conditioner. The conditioner smells similar to the shampoo, very clean, like children's bubbles. My hair was very soft and manageable after one use. Also included was
Davines OI / All in One Milk. The all in one milk had a perfume scent unlike the shampoo and conditioner. I didn't care for the scent, which had a subtle baby powder smell to it. My hair was very soft after using this. I can't wait to see the effects after a few days of using all these products together.

My favorite sample was the Perlier Body Cream. This cream was great! It went on smooth and was very moisturizing, but not sticky or wet at all. It sank in instantly and had a faint almond scent, which was nice. I think this is going on my "must purchase" list.

I received Caudalie Polyphenol C15 Anti-Wrinkle Defense Serum. I wasn't sold by this cream. I didn't like how it felt on my face, kind of tight and didn't sink in as well as I like them to. I could get over that if it did amazing things to my skin, but after one use I see no difference at all. I will continue to try the sample to see if any miracles happen. (Has anyone found any wrinkle creams that are amazing, after just trying the sample? I'd love to know about them if you have.)

The final sample I received was the Catherine Malandrino Style de Paris perfume. I hate perfume samples, because I very rarely wear perfume and I hate most of their strong scents. This was quite strong for my liking.

I was very happy with my June Birchbox and may have found a new favorite body cream. I will continue to subscribe to Birchbox for a very long time, because I love being able to try all the samples to figure out what works for me before I decide to purchase.

Popsugar Must Have June 2014

Rating: Love It!!!!
Cost: $39.95/month

I always love it when I see the Popsugar Must Have box on my doorstep. This is the box I look forward to most every month. I always try not to look at spoilers, but for some reason I continue to get this box later than everyone else, so the temptation to look at spoilers always wins!

For June the inspiration was beachy hair, citrus, sand, sun, surf, backyard bbqs, relax, unwind, read, and stripes. It all sounds good to me! Here's the first look.

And here is everything included in the June box.

Popsugar Must Have always includes an information card with details of every item included.

The first item was The One & Only by Emily Giffin. I need to make more time to read and hopefully this book will provide me with the motivation to do it. It sounds like an interesting read!

The next item included was Shiny Citrus Body Lotion by Sachajuan. I haven't tried this yet, but it sounds like a scent I will enjoy. This lotion also reduces the appearance of wrinkles and calms irritation!

My favorite item in this months box was the Beach Towel by Turkish-T. I love the color of this towel! These are so lightweight and can be used for so much more than a towel. I was very happy to see this included in the box!

I also received Lemon Wet Wipes by You Smell. I am in love with the packaging of these! So cute!!! These are natural antibacterial wipes that are durable, yet gentle. I can't wait to try these on a hot, sticky summer day!

The next item I received was Basics Hair Ties by Lollies. These are braided with swimsuit fabric and won't stretch over time. They're super adorable, but I think they will be too large for my fine, shoulder length hair. They do look great as a stack of cute summer bracelets though!!!

The final item included was One Potato Two Potato Hawaiian BBQ Chips. I haven't tried these yet because I'm not really a fan of BBQ flavored chips. I'm saving them for someone that will enjoy them!

I was very happy with the Popsugar Must Have June box. Besides the potato chips, every item is a hit with me. I love trying new brands each month and honestly the items I receive in my Popsugar Must Have boxes end up being my favorite go to products time after time. I'm already excited to see what we get next month!

If you want to subscribe you can use the code  “REFER5” to get $5 off your first box or  “JUNESELECT10” to save $10 off a 3 month subscription!
