Rothy's Shoes Review

I don’t know about you, but every time I go on Facebook I see an ad for Rothy’s shoes! And it always catches my eye. I love flats for work and hardly ever wear heels, so these look like a dream come true. And I’m wearing shoes for long days, so comfort is key. I loved the look of these, but the description sounds too good to be true!

Rothy’s set out to “Create an alternative, versatile shoe: one with the ease of a sneaker but with the polish of a feminine flat. And do it with low-waste, low-impact materials, hand-assembled
for high quality and durability.” Here is a list of qualities from the website: “Recyclable, earth-friendly, carbon-free rubber sole, recycled water bottle construction, 9.3 oz all-day wear-ability, moisture-wicking all-weather comfort, machine washable, quick-dry technology, flexible sole and upper, meticulous hand assembly, blister-free seamless knit.” They set out to “make this sophisticated stylish product in a different way. With less waste and more responsible materials. They encourage re-use of their sturdy re-sealable shipping box. Thanks to Rothy's unique design and 3-D Knit Technology they are machine washable and look new, wash after wash. We encourage giving Rothy's new life when you finally are ready to replace them. Simply send them into our recycling facility and help close the loop in making our planet a better place.” Wow! That’s a lot of amazing stuff and sounds like a company I definitely wanted to support!

I knew I loved how they looked, but wasn’t sure they could hold up to all their promises, so I started searching the internet for reviews. Most reviews I found, the individuals received them for free to try them, so I’m always a little skeptical if they are honest. Getting something for free, the expectations are a little lower and you’re on a high because you didn’t pay for them! But at a $125-$145 price tag, I wasn’t sure this shoe would be worth it. I had asked all my friends if anyone had tried them and couldn’t find anyone. So, after seeing countless ads, reading multiple reviews, and hearing about the good and bad I decided to take a chance and try a pair of Rothy's of my own (after all shipping is free and so are returns, so how could I not)! Plus I saved $20 by using a referral code.

My hardest decision was choosing which Rothy's to purchase. I loved them all. They have 2 styles, the flat, with a round toe or the point, with a pointed toe. I chose charcoal birdseye! It’s a neutral charcoal shoe, but I can’t live without a pop of color, so they have pink soles. They arrived a few days after I made my purchase and I couldn’t wait to check them out. They looked just like the website pictures, so I was happy! And they felt like fabric. I wasn’t sure if they’d be stiff or scratchy, but they aren’t AT ALL! I was very pleased. And then the try on test. I wear between an 8.5 and 9, and quite a few reviews said to size up, so I bought a 9. I love how they fit. They felt like slippers! I didn’t take them off and just wore them around my house for a while. I couldn’t wait to test them out for a whole day!

I wore them all day at work the first day, but I was worried they may give me blisters as it was the first time wearing them and didn’t want to suffer through the work day. So I grabbed some socks, just in case. Usually, after wearing shoes all day I’m ready to tear them off my feet by the time I get home. If you can believe it, I forgot I was wearing shoes and kept these on my feet in my house. Then changed to go out to dinner and threw them back on. And they still didn’t bother my feet one bit after wearing them from the time I woke up 6:30am until around 8pm. Then I wore them all the next day too, and still felt like slippers! And then I wore them the next day! No blisters, no irritation, perfectly comfy right out of the box, and able to wear them full days without socks. I think it’s fair to say these quickly became my go to shoes!!!

Everyone at work was asking about my Rothy's and some of my friends tried them on. I got mixed reviews from my friends. I seriously think they are really comfortable! My friend who is a true size 9 said they were a little tight in her toes and wasn’t sure if sizing up would help, because she thought it was tight where her toes were hitting the top, and not just that she needed some length. To me they feel very flexible, but I also had a friend say she didn’t like the heel and how high it came up and kind of dug into her heel a bit. They feel stretchy to me, so I felt they really formed to my feet and I was able to move around in them and didn’t feel tight or cramped at all. I didn’t get blisters or any irritations. There is no arch support, if that is important to you. You could probably buy new insoles to your liking, but flat shoes don’t bother me, so I kept the original. The insole they come with is removable, but it is thin and not too padded.

I’m not sure everyone will love Rothy's, but I know I do and I honestly wish I didn’t wait so long to try them. I already have plans to buy another pair! They really are versatile. They are great for work, where dress is business casual to professional, and also fine for casual Friday at work and weekends. I was seeing ads with people doing yoga and biking or whatever in them and thought no way. But the second day I wore them, I thought about taking a run in them, but ended up changing into my running sneakers, but they really are that comfortable to me. I will probably try them for yoga, because I love how flexible they are and think they’d be great for outdoor yoga! I also think these are a very easy to pack shoe for trips. Not only are the light and won’t take up room, but they look great with dresses, pants, exercise wear, whatever. I really could go on and on about everything I love and I’m not just saying it! I bought these for myself with my hard earned money and I’m a true bargain shopper, so $100 for one pair of shoes wasn’t an easy decision, but I’m so happy with them! And I want more!

If you have been thinking about them like I was, I say go for it! If you want to save $20 and make the price tag a little easier to swallow, please use my referral code. Sizes and colors are not always available, but do change frequently, so I’d say if there is one style you love and it’s not available in your size, it will be soon. Also, if you don’t like them or buy a size that doesn’t fit quite right, returns/exchanges are so easy with Rothy's! You can return them in the original box, which is compact and already has adhesive. So, you really have nothing to lose. And if you love them as much as I do, you’ll be happy to have discovered them!

Popsugar Must Have April 2017

Rating: Love It!!!!
Cost: $39.95/month

I received my April Popsugar Must Have box this week. I had looked at spoilers so I knew what I'd be getting, but I love seeing everything in person. I was excited about this box, because I liked everything in it!

Popsugar always includes an information card explaining everything in the box. This month's inspiration was reset, natural, healing, clean, grow, spiritual.

The first item included in the box was Makerskit Crystal Sand Art Terrarium Kit. Retail price $32. This was my favorite item in the box! I love crafts and I love terrariums. We just remodeled our living room and I need decorative items for the built in shelving and this will be perfect in the room. I love that I don't need to spritz the moss or anything. The crystal adds a nice glimmer to it, too! I think this is one of my all time favorite items included in a Popsugar box. And I know it's a good project if I make it immediately, which I did! It was very easy and only took about 5 minutes to complete. And I love the finished piece!!!

The next item included was Morning Culture Dipped Bamboo Cutting Board. Retail price $22. I really like this. The color doesn't really go with my kitchen decor, but I love the pastel purple. It will be pretty to use for entertaining!

I also received Tonic Australia Lavender Sachets. Retail price $15. I love the scent of lavender. These made the whole box smell amazing! I also love the pretty floral fabric. I'm not sure what to use these for yet, because they seem too pretty to hide.

Another item included was The Cottage Greenhouse Carrot & Neroli Rich & Repair Body Wash. Retail price $22. I didn't smell this, but the combination sounds different. I love the packaging! It includes coconut oil, cocoa butter, and honey, so it sounds good. I'm almost out of body wash, so I'll be switching to this soon!!!

I've never been excited about dental floss. In fact, I'm very lazy about flossing every day and it's usually something I often skip (I know it's horrible). The Cocolab Cocofloss included in this box might actually change my non habit of flossing. Retail price $8. Coconut oil infused dental floss sounds like the most luxurious (feel like you're on a tropical vacation) floss! I can't wait to try it. I can't believe I just said that about flossing! Even the packaging is fun, with the clear container, so you know when you're getting low!!!

The snack included this month was Nourish Snacks Holy Habanero. Retail price $1.99. I received two packages. I think I was only supposed to get one. These don't sound like they'll be one of my favorite treats, but I'll try them. These are seasoned corn kernels and I'm not a big fan of spicy snacks.

The special extra included this month was Pronamel Strong & Bright Enamel, Extra Fresh Toothpaste. Retail price $5.99. I'm almost out of toothpaste so this came at the perfect time. It's not exciting, but I'll definitely use it, so I'm happy it was included.

The April Popsugar box included a lot of items I'm excited about. The last box in my 6 month subscription is next month. I can't wait to see what we get. This box will be a difficult one to top in my opinion!

Kidstir April 2017

Rating: Like It!!!
Cost: $15.95/month

The April Kidstir arrived in the first week in April, but I'm just getting around to reviewing it now. I always try to wait until we've tried the recipes to review it, but we haven't tried any this month yet. This month was appetizer recipes.

Kidstir always includes a shopping list of everything you need for the recipes.

The first recipe included was Tiny Toasts. These look yummy and easy to make!

A kitchen artist brush was included to use with this recipe.

The next recipe was Cauliflower Crunchies. I think these look delicious too!

The final recipe was Pizza Friends. This was my daughter's favorite recipe this month!

We also received a wooden spoon and party pick stickers to use for the appetizers. I like the fun extras in the boxes each month!

The Kidstir recipes this month all look good. We will try them all!

Golden Tote March 2017 Mini Tote

Rating: Like It!!!
Cost: Mini Tote $59

I haven't ordered from Golden Tote in a very long time. I needed new skinny jeans and was not loving any in the store, so I decided to order a mini tote with chosen skinny jeans. I had received an email that if you chose jeans in a mini tote you would receive a coordinating top to make it an outfit. Then I also received an email for free shipping, so I took a chance and ordered.

The tote bag for March was a nice spring floral design. I really like it and miss receiving these bags. I seriously use them for everything! I love the colors of this tote bag!!!

My chosen item was Ankle Skinny jeans by Just Black. I ordered them in my regular size, even though the description said to size down and I'm happy I did. They fit perfectly and are very soft and comfortable! I'm happy with them. For my surprise item I received a navy floral tank top by fun 2 fun. I love this tank! It's perfect to wear with a cardigan for work or to dress down and wear with jeans on weekends. It's definitely my style, so this tote was worth it to me! I'm very happy with both pieces!!!

Golden Tote chose the perfect surprise item for me, so I'm happy! I probably won't order again soon, but not because I don't love it (I'm trying to save money). It's a great deal for the price and I would highly recommend Golden Tote to anyone wanting to try it!

The Zoe Report Box of Style Spring 2017

Rating: Love It!!!!
Cost: $100/quarterly box; $350 yearly subscription

I received my Box of Style quarterly subscription box this week. I had looked at spoilers, so I knew what to expect. I couldn't wait to see everything in person. I already knew I was going to love the hero item.

Box of Style always includes an information book to explain everything in the box. I love the styling tips included. I always read these cover to cover and they include coupon codes too!

I also received a special gift this month for being a yearly subscriber. I was excited to see what it was.

It was a pretty black leather purse charm. I will be adding this to a plain bag I own to give it a little more sass. I really like it! And I'm always happy with extra items!

The hero item included this month was a Tribe Alive Custom Carryall. Retail price $238. I love this bag! I'm going to be switching to carrying this soon! I believe this was made exclusively for Box of Style subscribers!!! I love the black and white woven design with the brown leather. It also has a couple pockets inside which I like. It is similar to the Tribe Alive clutch we received in a recent Popsugar Must Have box and I'm happy I have two pieces from this company because I love them!!!

The next item included was Adornmonde Ivo Earrings in Gold or Silver. Retail price $62. Subscribers were able to choose whether they'd like Gold or Silver. I chose Silver. I really like these earrings and how they can be worn with or without the hoops. I'm pretty boring when it comes to earrings and I rarely wear them, so I'm happy to add something different to my collection. I'm not sure when I'll wear these, but I like the versatility and the different ways they can be worn.

Also included was a Symbology Scarf. Retail price $50. This is a beautiful red and gold print, which was made exclusively for Box of Style subscribers. I really like this, and I think I'll be tying it on a bag. I'm also trying to think of different ways I can use this. Mine is kinda wrinkled from the way it was folded. I love the brand name printed right on the scarf!

The next item was from a brand I haven't tried before. It's Tatcha Polished Gentle Rice Enzyme Powder. Retail price $65. I always love the beauty products I receive in the Box of Style, so I'm sure this will be amazing. I can't wait to try it. The packaging was unique and beautiful!

Another item included was BKR Glass and Silicone Water Bottle. Retail price $35. I really like the classic style and pale pink neutral silicone color of this bottle. I think I'll be using this on my night stand by my bed to stay hydrated at night! It's so pretty!

The final item included was Butter London Nail Polish in Piece of Cake. Retail price $18. I love this pale pink polish. It will be perfect for transitioning to Spring! I haven't painted my nails in a long time, so this will be happening right away. I can't wait to have pretty pale pink nails!!!

Box of Style also included another extra item this month. It was a Stella Artois Chalice Glass. Every limited edition Chalice sold helps provide 5 years of clean water for 1 person in the developing world. That's a great cause and these glasses are so pretty! I think there was 3 styles that may have had different prints (by looking at the information book). I love the style I received. I'm sure they're all very pretty!

The Box of Style Spring box was amazing! I love everything included and will use everything! I also love the extras included this month. This whole box included items from woman owned companies, which I think is great! I can't wait to see what is included in the Summer box.
