Citrus Lane September 2013

Rating: Lifer!!!!!
Cost: $25/month

My daughter's Citrus Lane box arrived today. Her box this month is for a 15 month old girl, so other boxes may have different items since they are age/gender appropriate. I'm always so excited for this box to arrive and my daughter loves it too!!! I have been very happy with everything we have received and this month was no different.

Here's a picture of what we received.

The first item was a Charley Harper ABCs book from AMMO books. This is a very nice, quality book that my daughter is going to love looking at. The illustrations are great! I love this!!!

The next item was a Zebra Push & Pull toy from Hape. My daughter will love this! I've been looking for a pull toy for awhile now, but haven't bought one yet, so I was very happy to see this included in our box this month. It's small enough for her to grasp and will be fun for her to pull or push around. And it's super cute!!!

We also received Playful Wash from Episencial. I haven't tried this wash yet, but I've liked the other products I've tried from this brand that were included in past boxes. The scent is a nice citrus tangerine. I'm excited to try this! And it's completely organic, which is perfect!!!

My daughter loves trying new snacks, so I was happy to see the Super Toddler Bar from Happy Family included in the box. Healthy snacks are my favorite thing to feed my little one. Hopefully she likes it!!! There were also some coupons included, so if she likes them we'll be buying more!

The last item was the "mommy" item. I was so excited to see this Nail Color from Julep in Coco-It Girl. It's a beautiful deep reddish brown color that will be perfect for fall. And a girl can never have enough nail polish, right??? I've never tried this brand of nail polish, so I'm happy I finally get to.

Yet another month that Citrus Lane has made me and my daughter very happy. They consistently provide great products! Can't wait to see what we get in October...

Do you subscribe to Citrus Lane? What different items did you get this month???

Golden Tote September 2013 & Giveaway

Rating: Not For Me!
Cost: $49 or $149/month

My Golden Tote for September arrived this week. Shipping always seems to take forever with Golden Tote, but it may just be because I'm so excited to see what I'm going to get! This month I ordered the $49 tote. And now sales are all month long, so if I feel like I need to order another tote at any time I can! I felt like the items to pick from were similar to my last tote picks, but I was excited for one skirt that was available in both tote sizes, so I opted for the $49 one this month.

Here is a picture of what I received.

The item I picked was the Heavy Knit Skirt by Olivaceous. When I took this out of the box I was very nervous it wouldn't fit. Because it is knit it looked quite small (like it would fit my 7 year old niece) I tried it on and it fit, which I was happy about, but I'm unsure of it. It is a very strange material and the only way I can describe it is like something workout clothes would be made of. It's slightly shiny as you can see in the pictures below. I guess I was hoping this would be a nice fall knit, flirty skirt. I'm going to need some time with this skirt to see if I can style it to my liking.

Here is the styling card that was included for the skirt. I'm happy because I have the shirt pictured with it from my last tote in the Eiffel Tower print, so I'm going to try them as they're styled on the card to see if I like them together.

The surprise item I received was an Aztec Sweater by Flying Tomato. I'm very unsure of this sweater. It fits fine, but I'm not sure it's something I really want to wear. It seems warm and will be nice for fall, but I may also need some time to style it to my liking.

Golden Tote also changed their tote bag this month. It's nice, but I think I preferred the other style better (it had cute bunnies)

This Golden Tote was a miss for me. I didn't feel like it had the value that other totes have. Each piece in this tote would have needed to be worth at least $25 to me, to make it worth the value. I'm not sure I would have picked out either piece for myself. Also, I feel like Golden Tote is starting to send the same surprise pieces to everyone regardless of their profile. Every review of the September tote also had this sweater. Most people loved it, which is a good thing! I'm contemplating sending this tote back, but I'll give it a fair chance and try to style the pieces first.

What do you think of Golden Tote? Did you order for September??? Also, feel free to add comments with ideas of how I should style these items...

Popbasic Lost (September 2013 Collection)

Rating: Love It!!!!
Cost: $83 Worldwide shipping is included

My Popbasic Lost Collection arrived this week! I wasn't sure if I was going to order this collection because Popbasic had shown a preview of their next collection prior to releasing this one and I NEED it. Here's a picture below. The sale will open sometime in October!!!

I decided to order the Lost Collection because I really liked the shirt, it's classic and will be a staple in my wardrobe. I'm so happy I did!!! Here's a picture of what I received.

The first item (and my favorite) is the Sofia Boyfriend Shirt. This shirt is a nice quality fabric, that's a bit heavier than I expected, but I was very pleased with it. It's also very soft and fits perfect, just slouchy enough, but also fitted (it's possible, trust me). It's very well made (my mom pointed out the stripes line up around the sleeves, which is key in a quality shirt). This shirt is going to look great with straight leg ankle jeans and also cute flirty skirts. I never would have thought to pair it with a flower patterned skirt, but I saw a picture of someone wearing it with one and it was totally adorable. Definitely going to try it!!

The next item was the Dreamer Amethyst Necklace. I honestly wasn't too crazy about this piece when I saw it in the collection, but it was the item exciting everyone else. When I opened the small silky bag this was in I was so happy! It's super sparkly and I can't wait to wear it all the time. I was worried it was going to be too big and bulky for my small frame, but this is such a nice piece and also looks great with the boyfriend shirt. I didn't see these pieces going together, but they definitely do! And I feel with the right pieces this necklace could either be dressed up or down. These pictures do not do it justice. It is seriously super sparkly and beautiful!

The last item included in the collection was a Pink Silk Cord Bracelet. I received these bracelets in the last collection, but in different colors, so I knew I would like this. The pink color is very nice. I'll mix it in with my others too. I'm very happy with this!

The extra item was a twistband this month. I do already have some of these and they are nice. It was a nice little extra to see in a cute purple tie die pattern!

This company is winning me over with their thoughtful hand written notes included in each collection, quick and amazing shipping time (I live on the East coast and I receive my Popbasic Collection within a few days after it ships from the West Coast), and their high quality pieces that will become staples in my wardrobe. The Lost Collection is still available in sizes XS-XL. Get yours before it sells out!!! Next collection pictured above will be available sometime in October and I definitely will be ordering! I'm super excited about this company!!!

Did you order the Lost Collection? What were your thoughts????

Birchbox September 2013

Rating: Love It!!!!
Cost: $10/month

I received my Birchbox this week! I couldn't wait to see what I would be getting this month and had already looked in my account, so I knew what I would get. When I opened my Birchbox the products were completely different than what I had seen in my account online. I was totally confused, especially since one of the samples was the same as something I received last month. I called customer service and asked them why the products that show in my account online for September were not at all what I received and they said they had sent me the incorrect box. They quickly said they would send me a replacement box of what I was supposed to receive. And I could keep the one I had!!!! BONUS! I was soooo excited! Now, that's amazing customer service!

So, I'm still awaiting the arrival of my correct box (that I'm excited about) but I decided to review the box I received, though a few of the products are definitely not for me and I'm thinking about doing a giveaway soon. What are your thoughts about a giveaway???

Below is what I received:

The first item I received was BCBG Max Azria Bon Genre perfume sample. I am not a fan of perfumes at all and very rarely wear them, especially if they are very strong and flowery. Clean, fresh scents do not bother me as much, but this was quite strong and not a scent I would wear.

The next item was Benefit Cosmetics Sugarbomb Ultra Plush Lip Gloss. I love this!!! The color is light and neutral and it is so soft on my lips. Not sticky at all. Makes your lips look slightly shiny and very pretty! And the sample is a nice size, so I will get multiple uses, before deciding to buy.

I also received Ruffian Nail Laquer in Hedge Fund. It's a green color polish and I'm already a fan of this brand after one application. It went on very smooth and one coat would have been enough. It covered evenly and the shape of the bottle made it extremely comfortable to paint my own nails. It dried very quickly and looked great! Every box for September was supposed to get this polish and I'm hoping my replacement box has a different color because I'm really excited to try more!!!

Another item I received (which was the same as a sample I received last month) was Uniq One Hair Treatment. I did not like this from my last box, so I will not be trying it again. This item will definitely be in a giveaway (if I decide to do one, place comments below if you would like a giveaway...)

The last sample I received was Soak Heel Foot Cream. The cucumber scent is amazing, very light and subtle! Not like the too sweet cucumber scents of other creams. It was thick and creamy, but soaked in nicely and left my skin feeling very soft and smooth. Would have been nice if the sample size was a little larger, so you could get more than one use. Other than that I was very pleased with this.

I would have been dissatisfied if this was the Birchbox I was supposed to receive, especially if I received the same sample two months in a row. (Not sure if that happens a lot. Has anyone had it happen to them?) I'll post my replacement box review on this same post once I receive it. I hope I like ALL the products in that box!!!

I received my replacement Birchbox (the correct box) about a week after I talked to customer service. I'm very pleased with their quick, courteous customer service and fast shipping! This box was much more suited to me and I was excited to try all the products. Here's what I got.

The first product was Beauty Protector Protect & Shampoo. I was excited to try this as I'm always looking for a great shampoo for my fine, thin hair. This had a very subtle, sweet smell that was delightful and reminded me of cupcakes. Kind of made me want to go and eat a cupcake after my shower, but that's okay with me, because cupcakes are delicious!!! This shampoo is sulfate free and paraben free and vegan. I'm a fan of using healthy products in my hair! After one use my hair actually was shiny and soft like it promised. I didn't notice more volume, but I have yet to find a product that provides volume for my fine hair. I'm going to continue to use this sample to decide if it is worth purchasing.

I also received the Beauty Protector Protect & Condition. I'm happy I was able to try the shampoo and conditioner together to see how they work as a team. The conditioner is also paraben free and vegan, which is exciting! This had the same pleasant scent and made my hair soft and easy to comb after showering. I will definitely be using both these samples until they are gone to see if they have any long term benefits for my hair type.

The next item was Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel Sensitive. This was the sample I was most excited to try as my face was in need of a good facial! The scent is very nice, not overpowering, but it didn't smell too much like green apple to me. I thought it smelled more like coconut, but maybe my scent is off. Still, I liked it very much. This is a nice size sample (not just one application), so I'm happy I get to try it a few times before deciding to buy it. It went on smooth (usually masks and peels irritate my skin and I end up having to take them off early). This felt great, but also made me skeptical it was working, because my skin just felt wet. It rinsed off very easily and my skin felt smooth after one application, but I'm thinking it might take a few times to notice any difference. I will also continue to use this sample to see how I like it after a few tries.

The next item was Ruffian Nail Laquer in Fox Hunt. I'm so happy I got a different color from my other box, because I love this polish! I plan on doing a manicure using both colors this weekend (or today if I can fit it in) Let me just say that if Birchbox was going to mess up and send me the wrong box I'm glad they did it this month, because two different colors of these polishes makes me so happy! This one is a nice orange color that I'm excited to try!!! Perfect for fall!

The last item is Soak Rinse-Free Wash. This sample is only one use and I haven't tried it yet. It's interesting and says to use a teaspoon of the wash with 1 gallon cool water. You soak the item for 15 minutes and then squeeze out the water and you're done. I can't wait to try it!!!

I also received a coupon for a free travel size Caudalie Divine Oil with the purchase of any Caudalie product in the Birchbox shop. Not sure if I'll use it, but maybe.

I'm so happy with Birchbox. It's only my second month subscribing and I feel like it is a great value. I love being able to try all sorts of products to make sure I like them before buying them. This is making my beauty routine so much more fun and exciting!!!

Do you love Birchbox too? What are your thoughts???

Stitch Fix

I signed up for Stitch Fix today and I must say I'm a little nervous about it. It's a monthly subscription of women's clothes (I'm addicted to clothes, in case you can't tell by my reviews). You pay a stylist fee of $20/month and 5 clothing and accessory items are shipped to you. I filled out an extensive profile, so I feel like they have a good grasp of what I may like.

When you receive your shipment you try everything on in the comfort of your own home and keep what you love! You pay retail price for the items you keep (you can use the $20 stylist fee towards what you decide to purchase). The shipping is free.

So, I figured if I don't like anything I can send it all back and only be out $20, which is less than I would spend in gas and time if I went shopping for myself. Plus, who can find the time with a 1 yr old running around. So, I'm giving it a chance! I think I might be more nervous that I'll love everything and end up spending too much money, but one time can't hurt, right??? I plan on only keeping quality pieces that I absolutely love and can justify the cost for.

I decided I do not have any amazing pants for work, so I'm using this subscription to spice up my work wardrobe. I scheduled my first fix for Oct 1, so I'll be sure to post pictures and let you know what I thought.

Have you tried Stitch Fix? Did you love it???
